In response to a number of inquiries received through my email, I decided to publish the next post which deals with the international standard ISO 22000:2005 and I intend to give general background the same, so that readers achieve an idea of \u200b\u200byour requirements, nature and objectives of ISO 22000




ORIGIN

The genesis of the ISO 22000 standard is linked to a number of factors:

The enormous importance which for years has been given to food security, due to various food crises hazardous to consumer health.

The need for food companies to meet certain requirements of food safety and quality, more and more demanding by the large distribution chains, under pressure, in turn, by consumer demands.

The need to harmonize standards and regulations between countries, such as GMP Standard for Corrugated & Solid Clear, EFSIS, IFS, GFSI Packaging BRC, Dutch HACCP, DS 3027, EUROPEGAP, etc.

The need for a specific standard for the food sector, which set out criteria and safety requirements of this sector. The standards ISO 9000 series are generic and flexibility suitable for any product or service. This means that, eventually are slightly ambiguous in the field of food security and food safety.

The interest of integrating the different systems of safety and quality in the same management system.


DEVELOPMENT OF STANDARD:

This process took several years, was carried out by the TSC (Technical Committee for Standardization) 34 Food, composed of 15 countries (most members of the European Union, more U.S., Japan, Canada and Korea), coordinated by Denmark. For its development

requested the opinion of food industry experts, scientists, representatives of certification bodies and responsible for the Codex Alimentarius Committee.

In November 2001, held the first meeting of ISO / TC 34 / WG 8, Copenhagen, Denmark

Between January 2002 and September of that year, developed the first draft standard

DIS (Draft International Standard) was completed in June 2004 and November of that year, the document was voted

The FDIS ( Final Draft International Standard) was approved in May 2005 and was approved as ISO 22000 in September of that year.

final publication occurred on September 1, 2005, so its final name is that of ISO 22000:2005. FAMILY
